As part of the ‘Kaleidoscope: Colloquium for Alternative Epistemologies’ organised and chaired by Prof. Dr. Frieder Vogelmann and Prof. Dr. Nadja Germann, I gave a talk on my current research. I spoke about subject and ethics from the perspective of Michel Foucault.
The aim of the colloquium is to explore epistemologies beyond the well-trodden paths of European philosophy. This does not mean rejecting the ideas of classical ‘Western’ epistemology outright, but rather bringing them into an equal dialogue with epistemological arguments from other traditions of thought. To do this, philosophy must not only open itself up to texts and authors that are often not part of the canon or are only read at the margins, it must also seek dialogue with other disciplines. The colloquium provides a space for this – what happens there is up to all participants.
